The end of the world as we know it is surely nigh, as "words" like 'YOLO', 'amazeballs' and 'sideboob' have been added to the Oxford Dictionary.
Now, we know that language is evolving and changing all the time, so much so that today we would stand no chance of being able to understand, for example, Beowulf which was also written in English, but it has officially gone too far. The game's gone Jeff. We have entered endgame.
The Oxford English Dictionary has decided to add a few new "words" in their most recent update, and now it would seem that another 40 terms, including YOLO, have been given the stamp of approval.
Most of the words have become popularised through the internet or on social media, and other entries include 'humblebrag', 'sideboob', 'neckbeard' and 'catfish', so if you're not familiar with those words, you know where you can go to get them defined for you now.
Another strange entry is 'adorbs', which apparently means something and its addition to the dictionary is one that we did find handy, because we'd never heard of it before and had no idea what it was when they announced it. Kids these days,eh?
What this proves, of course, is that the people from the internet are now making up the rules for the language we all speak. The same people who really, really like cats, and spend their days trolling everyone else. These people:
We're doomed.
