Happy Monday everyone, hope your noses, toes and fingers are all still intact and nobody fell on the old bums while carefully manoeuvring around the slippy streets this morning. I suppose we should start getting used to it as it seems this baltic weather is here for the next week, at least. My hands are currently numb as I type since my gloves were literally frozen in the car this morning. Seriously, the door was frozen shut so I couldn't get into it.
But you're not here to hear about that, let's look at X Factor and last night, Katie and Wagner got the boot, delighting many of you I'm sure. The theme of the weekend was rock and each contestant preformed two songs. Rebecca Ferguson's version of Satisfaction was good although she could have joined the backing dancers by tossing in a few moves rather then just knocking her shoulders from side to side. Matt Cardle's version of The Moody Blues wonderful song Knights in White Satin was stunning. Should he win, he's guaranteed to go far. Now, Katie decided that it was appropriate for her to take on Kings of Leon's hit, Sex on Fire. This is only my opinion but I thought she ruined it. It was an awful performance and I wondered, as she tried to 'rock out' was she giving her nan encouragement of some sort, it was very fitting. Mary didn't let her throat problems get the better of her and she smashed both of her songs and threw in a few thrust movements, kinky little minx.
What was the deal with all the boo's for Cher? She's been getting great cheers for the past few weeks and she did really well on Saturday. You have to hand it to her, she comes out on stage and could pass as someone who is doing a guest appearance. She's never off tune; she's versatile, moves around, sings/ raps in English and looks good too. I wasn't a big fan of hers at the start but she's growing on me and fair play to her for having a giggle. Wagner wasn't half bad either *ducks*. There were no dancers, no gimmicks, just him and the mic and it worked. It was the first weekend that I could understand what he was singing. All that said, he sang 'Creep' and he did give me the heebee jebees.
So, on to last night's show. Dermot stressed that the act with the least amount of votes would be the first act to leave and when he called Katie's name, it took about thirty seconds for me to realise she was out and when the penny dropped, I jumped from the couch and screamed. Louis may bang on that she's a nice girl and we don't know the real Katie (which I'm sick of hearing about) but she wasn't liked. She was able to hold a note, but people just didn't warm to her and that's just the way the cookie crumbles unfortunately. After the sing off, Mary and Vaawgner awaited their fate and it was predictable that the Dubliner was going to get a clean sweep. Strange that Louis had to vote first though, anyone else think that? Fair play to him for actually picking someone, unlike that lady who sits two seats down from him. A huge congratulations to Mary, so, so, so happy for her and I think I speak for everyone when I say that. Her staying in the competition gives us all something to feel good about, stuff the IMF and the impending general election.
Finally, Justin Bieber, Nicole Scherzinger and The Wanted (who the hell are they???) were the guest performers. JB was definitely miming and the randy young boy tried to swoon Chezza too. Nicole was pretty awesome, although the leather cat suit, or whatever it was meant to be was a little strange. Could someone please inform me where those five yuppies came from? It was gut wrenching tripe.
Some of the videos from Saturday night's show will be up in Best of the Web shortly, just hold tight and you can re-live some of the best bits (just as soon as I thaw out).
