We're going to kill to birds with one stone here - Dannii "leaving" the X Factor and the latest gallery from Cannes. We can meld the two together thanks to the omnipresence of one fierce booby Cherl Cole.

First, to Dannii. As has become customary with the X Factor every year, there is some contention regarding who will be on the judging panel: "Have they signed contracts yet?!!" and so on. As it turns out, Dannii has a scheduling clash with Australia's Got Talent and therefore can't appear as an X Factor judge this year. Or so she'd like you to believe...

The Sun, for a change, has a more salacious take on things. Here's what one of their insider moles had to say: "It's true that during discussions there was an issue with dates as she was supposed to filming in Australia when we were due to record. But if we wanted her on the show we would have been able to work round it. We have already changed the auditions for another judge (Gary Barlow) so he can fulfil his tour dates. It's our show - we can do what we like (so neeeeeeeeh). Simon has been telling producers he wants Kelly Rowland and Tulisa from N-Dubz and the simple fact is there wasn't room for everyone. Something had to give - and that something was Dannii."

Eeeeeep, being bumped for the mouthy broad off N-Dudz... that's got to smart a little. According to one of Dannii's mouthpiece mates: "She's angry that she was told to keep dates free and that they kept talking to her about it as though she was coming back. They left things too long so she faced having to make some very difficult decisions... Ultimately she was the one that called an end to the talks - but the writing was on the wall." Perhaps she can keep herself cosy wrapping some of the resulting Tweets around her at night. One fan posted: "Can't believe that Danni Minogue has been replaced on the X Factor. Danni was the best judge", while others stated "I wanna apply for audition tickets but hearing Tulisa may be a judge is putting me off" and "Oh God, you can tell their desperate when they replace Dannii with Chav City."

Meanwhile, in Cheryl Cole's world (seamless), she's being headhunted none other than Harvey Weinstein. During an interview in Cannes, the producing hotshot said: "I want to put Cheryl Cole in one of my films. I've heard all about her – she is getting a lot of buzz in the States with US X Factor. She'd sure make a great leading lady. She has a very interesting life story I'm told." Yeah, parts of which she'd prefer to keep out of the American bubble if at all possible. Apparently Harvey even went so far as to set up a meeting with Cheryl while in Cannes, but it was not to be: "She couldn't come, so hopefully when we're back in the States we can talk."

Yep, she was too busy parading about with a selection of baubles on display to talk to a Weinstein. She sure knows how to remain elusive. Unlike Sarah Jessica Parker.
