JD Wetherspoons plan on opening another five to six pubs in Ireland over the next 18 months.
Speaking to the Irish Times, the company's founder, Tim Martin, said "we’re hoping to open another five or six pubs over the next 12 to 18 months,” he said, adding that the company was still scoping out potential properties.
“It’s still early days in Ireland with us just having opened four out of our five bars in recent months but there’s been an extremely good reception and it is obvious that people like our pubs,”.
The pub chain have already opened five pubs around the country, The Three Tun Tavern in Blackrock, The Great Wood in Blanchardstown, The Forty Foot in Dun Laoghaire, The Old Borough in Swords, and The Linen Weaver in Cork.
The company aim to open 30 bars here over the next five years, and have already committed to bringing one to a city centre location, as they plan to redevelop the Camden Hall hostel into a pub and hotel.
