Enda Kenny was in London last night to attend a Fine Gael fundraising dinner, when an unexpected few guests turned up with something interesting for his plate.
Taoiseach Enda Kenny was over in London, enjoying a fine meal when representatives from the Speaking of I.M.E.L.D.A group showed up to serve him a side dish that he probably wasn't expecting or hoping for.
They announced their presence with a speech about how many women from Ireland travel to England to get abortions, before serving him up a pair of knickers to accompany his dish, and calling for a referendum to appeal the 8th Amendment in the Constitution. We suspect it probably left a bad taste in his mouth more than anything else, however.
Despite the publicity stunt, the 'Friends of Fine Gael' evening still took in around €25,000 according to The Independent, so not a bad night's work for the Taoiseach anyway.
