If you hadn't already heard, Daniel Radcliffe is starring in a BBC television movie about the development of the GTA video game series.
The reason you may have heard about it go something like this:
1. Daniel Radcliffe is in it.
2. The video game franchise is one of the biggest ever, having shifted over 220 million copies of its games.
3. Rockstar, the company that produces the games, filed a lawsuit against the British broadcaster to stop the development of the movie.
4. Daniel Radcliffe is in it.
Radcliffe will play the lead role as the Rockstar President, Sam Houser. Set just after the release of GTA 3(yes, that was somehow 13 years ago) the film deals with the problems the company faced following criticism of its violence by Jack Thompson, an American activist, played by Bill Paxton.
The film will be airing on BBC Two on September 15th at 9pm. Yes, we'll be watching, but until then we'll just have to leave the trailer on constant repeat.
