Full disclosure. We hate snakes. Like really hate them.
As the great Dr. Henry Jones Jr. says, "Snakes, why'd it have to be snakes?"
We once had an opportunity to pet a "domesticated" snake while on holidays once. We politely declined. Do you know why? Because it's a snake!
We're pretty confident that this Chinese tourist travelling through Thailand wishes she'd done the same here. The 29 year old woman, was visiting a an animal park in Phuket. Like many other visitors she queued up to pet the snake and for some reason thought it would be a good idea to kiss the python as well. See for yourself how that went for her.
The screams. My God the screams.
According to The Guardian, the woman was then taken to the local hospital where she received treatment for minor cuts and bruising to the nose. The park organisers have paid out £2,200 in compensation to the woman.
Animal Welfare Groups have spoken out about the incident citing that the conditions for snakes, elephants, monkeys and crocodiles in Thai shows are inhumane. Animals are often kept in poor conditions and paraded around in front of spectators. In one performance, orangutans are made to box each other.
