Ireland's Euro 2016 dream came to a dissapointing end yesterday against the host nation, France yesterday but we can hold our heads high and be very proud of how our team represented us at the tournament.
In the build up the game, the french media put massive emphasis on the fact that the Ireland team would be out for revenge for Thierry Henry's infamous handball that saw France win a World Cup playoff match back in 2009. While it may have been something joked about amongst the Irish fans, in reality the team that played yesterday wouldn't have give it a second thought.
In any event we were unable to claim the supposed revenge we were desperate for, but at least Thierry Henry didn't get through the day unscathed. The Wold Cup Winner was providing analysis for the BBC during the match yesterday when co-analyst Alan Shearer decided to take a pop off him, claiming Ireland deserved their penalty after previous decisions against France went against them.
It didn't end there for Henry.
Not the justice we deserve, but it will have to do for now.
