It's very easy to underestimate the amount of power in a lightning bolt when you hear of people having survived being struck by one.

However when you see a bolt striking (and destroying) an object up close it really puts it right into perspective. People who survive being struck by lightning are incredible!

Twitter user Alby shared a video online of a telephone pole being completely obliterated after it's struck by lightning and it really is something else. 

It's not known where the video was captured but here's hoping the pole took was the biggest casualty in that particular storm.
