The Sergeant-at-Arms who, along with another officer, took down the gunman who tried to attack the Canadian House of Commons received a standing ovation as he returned to work.

The attack in Ottawa shocked the world, but it was a return to business as usual for the House Of Commons, just one day after the traumatic events. Kevin Vickers, who is the Sergeant-at-Arms and was the man who, along with another officer, managed to take down the gunman, was given a touching standing ovation in appreciation of his actions, that undoubtedly saved the lives of many.

Clearly emotional, Vickers is applauded as he walks through to the main chamber, where all the elected representatives are on their feet, applauding.

As pointed out in the video many thought his role was completely ceremonial, but his actions on the day, for which he is being hailed as a hero, prove otherwise.
