There are plenty of developments coming down the line when it comes to smartwatches, and a whole host of options already available, but here's no doubting that all the hype seems to be with Motorola's Moto 360.

It's been a while since we've been able to say that people are really excited about a Motorola product, but their new smartwatch is definitely the piece of wearable technology that most people want to get their hands on.

From a design point of view, it's by far and away the leader in the field, and as Lior Ron explains in this teaser video, that's because they drew their inspiration from classical watches, which is what people seem to want, rather than futuristic looking pieces. The round screen not only looks more like something that we're used to, but it also allows for easier interaction, as you can get plenty of information on to the display, as opposed to a square face.

The main competitor for the Moto 360 will more than likely be the Samsung Gear, while Apple's iWatch seems to be gathering steam too, as they recently appointed an executive from TAG Heuer to help with the launch, whenever that will be. Patrick Pruniaux, the vice-president of sales for LVMH (the company that owns TAG and several other luxury brands) is the man who they have turned to to help bring the product forward, and with is experience in the world of traditional watches, we're hoping that the iWatch similarly looks like a real timepiece that we're familiar with.
