Forget your racers and hipster fixies, this is the real two wheeler that you want to be on the look out for on the bike to work scheme.
A Swiss daredevil, François Gissy, has broken the world record by travelling at a mind-boggling 333 km/h on his rocket-powered bike. That would make our commute to work considerably shorter, but it would come with a much higher risk of explosion and/or horrific death than your average bike.
On Friday afternoon, Gissy and the team set out to beat the record with the specially designed bike that boasts three rocket engines and some very specialised tyres to help the bike cope with such high speeds. However, the breaks are the standard issue rubber pads, so slowing down is a bit of a difficult task.
Gissy even beat a Ferrari F430, which was on hand on the closed course to demonstrate just how powerful the bike was.
Neracher Arnold designed the motor for the one-of-a-kind bike, and while the 333 km/h is very impressive, Gissy has dreams of achieveing even more: "We can go from 0 to 400 km/h in less than two seconds. But to design a more powerful bike, we would need sponsors".
