The Hunger Games made best pals out its stars Jennifer Lawrence, Liam Hemworth and Josh Hutcherson, but as Liam revealed on Jimmy Kimmel this week, it wasn't all the onscreen fighting and acting that created those bonds. It was actually something a lot more disgusting.

Before making it big and going to the States, Hemsworth and his mates were major fans of Harold & Kumar Go to White Castle, obviously relishing in the bizzaro comedy and what they believed to be fictitious burger shack White Castle. So when he arrived on the sunny side of the US of A, he was agog and amazed to find out that, lo and behold, White Castle actually exists. Talking to Kimmel, he said: 'A particular film that had a real impact on me as a teenager was Harold & Kumar Go to White Castle. It had a deep impact on me.'

'I think when it came out, I was 16 or 17, and my friends watched it religiously. It was like a bible. We didn't even know that White Castle was real then. We didn't have it in Australia, and we assumed that it was made up for this movie. And it wasn't until I came to the States that I found out that White Castle was a real place.' Unfortunately for hungry Hemsworth, White Castles only exist in the south and east of America, and little ole LA was devoid of the iconic eatery he craved to visit so much. However, he was in luck when they went to Nashville, Tennessee to film The Hunger Games, and while staying with co-star Hutcherson in his native Kentucky they decided to visit one.

'What a lovely way of bonding' you'd think. Except fulfilling Liam's dream was not where the bonding happened. No, it turns out they over-indulged a little in their hunger game, and ended up sharing the contents of their stomachs with each other and Josh's back garden. And they've been BFFs ever since.

Gives the Hunger Games a whole new meaning.
