The Irish wouldn’t be big into baseball (we’re more of a rugby/football kind of people) but a pretty historical moment happened in American sports yesterday which we should know about.

The Chicago Cubs have become the World Series champions, winning their first Fall Classic in 108 years. They beat the Cleveland Indians 8-7.

The team have allegedly not won due to being haunted by the ‘billy goat curse’ (and sports curses are definitely one thing we can relate to with our neighbours across the Atlantic).

In case you didn’t know, the Cubs’ biggest fan is undoubtedly Bill Murray, who recently had the best week ever when he was awarded the Mark Twain Prize for American Humour shortly after his fave team advanced to the World Series for the first time since 1945.

Here's Murray at the moment of yesterday’s final out:

And as a bonus treat, here he is singing Take Me Out to the Ball Game, as Daffy Duck:

Damn, Bill Murray would make you want to go to a baseball match just so he can pass you on that ceaseless enthusiasm.
