When it comes to the World Cup, there may well be a curse on all of England's teams.

This time, it struck the women's team at the World Cup currently taking place in Canada where England were hit with a couple of moments of bad luck (and bad refereeing decisions) that ended up costing them the game.

Firstly, their opponents Japan were awarded for a penalty for a foul that, in the slow-motion replay, appeared to have taken place outside the box. They drew level with a penalty themselves, but in the end were unlucky again when an incredibly unfortunate own goal flew in off the bar as Laura Bassett's attempted interception looped up over the keeper and bounced behind the line.

It was rather reminiscent of the goal that was never awarded to Frank Lampard in the 2010 World Cup against Germany, and England fans could probably be forgiven for thinking that they're due a bit of luck at some point.
