Uruguay took on Chile last night in the Copa America and were hoping to progress to the next round to defend their title, but when star striker Edinson Cavani was sent off, things took a turn for the worse.

The Uruguayan was sent off when he struck out at his opponent Gonzalo Jara, who theatrically flopped to the ground as a result, but the replays showed that there had been a very strange form of provocation.

Jara had reached out to grab Cavani by the rear end, and then appears to try and insert his finger into his anus, which caused Cavani to strike out and attempt to push him away. Jara made the most of that, and when the referee saw his dive to the ground, he produced a red for Cavani.

Coach Óscar Washington Tábarez was not pleased after the game either, speaking about the red card in the press conference and the brawl that came out of the incident involving the two players.

Jorge Fucile was also sent off late on in the game for Uruguay, making it a pretty bad day at the office for the holders who are now out of the competition.
