What better way to prove that your glass bridge is safe than to have a BBC Journalist smash it up with a sledgehammer?
The Zhangjiajie Grand Canyon bridge, the world's highest and longest glass bridge, is set to open in Hunan, China, next month and its operators were keen to assure the public it's safe. So they invited BBC reporter Dan Simmons over to test out the durability of its glass panels.
Questions were raised about the bridge after an incident happened to a similar bridge in central China where a panel of glass reportedly cracked after a pedestrian dropped a mug. Judging by Simmons' experiment though, we think the engineers have got things just right or the Zhangjiajie Grand Canyon bridge.
