Mount Etna is not only Europe's highest volcano, it's almost one of the most active volcanoes in the world, erupting a few times a year with varying degrees of severity.

At the end of last month, Etna became active again and a BBC camera crew was sent out yesterday to capture some footage - but got more than they bargained for in the process.

Caught on camera, Etna erupted and showered both the camera crew and a group of alpine tourists in debris and smoke. One volcanologist told Italian newspaper Il Correire that previous eruptions such as this have killed in the past.

As you'll see in the video, it's pretty intense. Take a look.
