You've probably read about or seen photos of a new fad that appears to be creeping (heh) its way across social media - creepy clowns.
Many people across the US - and some here in Ireland - have reported sightings of clowns appearing in the middle of the night, alone and in suburban areas.
It's become such a trend, in fact, that one university in the U.S. actually organised a clown hunt on their campus grounds. More recently, two teenagers were arrested by police for terrorising younger teenagers.
Jaime Salinis and Elandra Sledge, both 18, were charged with disorderly conduct after an incident took place on Thursday night in Roseville, Detroit. According to the police report, two fourteen-year old girls arrived at Roseville PD offices in hysterics, claiming that a car pulled up alongside them with two clowns inside.
The clowns then exited the car and ran after the two girls, who eventually reached the police station. Police then returned to the area and found two girls, dressed in full clown gear, and arrested them after a brief foot-chase. The press release identified the two clowns and called them "idiots" for their actions.
If convicted, the two clowns face up to 90 days in prison and / or a fine of $5,000 each.
