ICYMI, Ellen Degeneres’ Oscar selfie record was recently beaten by the chicken nuggets Twitter guy, aka Carter Wilkerson from Nevada.
Carter’s tweet asking Wendy’s how many retweets did he need to get a year’s supply of free chicken nuggets was retweeted 3.5 million times.
HELP ME PLEASE. A MAN NEEDS HIS NUGGS pic.twitter.com/4SrfHmEMo3
— Carter Wilkerson (@carterjwm) April 6, 2017
One of the accounts to retweet the plea was the now (after a string of recent PR disasters) infamous United Airlines, who also made a commitment to the chicken nugget enthusiast:
If you get the 18 million RTs, we'll give you a free flight to take you to any @Wendys in the world in a city we serve. Good luck! https://t.co/igxnPg1JUF
— United (@united) April 8, 2017
Since he broke a world record, United Airlines seems to want to reward him:
Hey @carterjwm, congrats on your world record! It’s time to decide where in the world you’d like to visit a @Wendys! DM to get the ✈ rolling https://t.co/3prDeaQdbL
— United (@united) May 10, 2017
But, understandably, tweeters have been treating the whole thing suspiciously:
Why are you threatening @carterjwm? https://t.co/bJXz9Wu2jX

@united @carterjwm @Wendys @carterjwm since it's a free ticket, you better not wear leggings on this @united flight

@united @carterjwm @Wendys Can't wait to see you get dragged out of the plane with a bag full of #nuggz
