Former WWE Champion Phil “CM Punk” Brooks has signed a multi-fight contract with the UFC, and will begin competing as early as next year.
Punk, who quit the wrestling world earlier this year, had been linked with UFC’s competitor, Bellator MMA, but last night revealed the news during the main card at UFC 181.
Now 36, Punk has never hidden his admiration for the sport, being spotted at a number of events over the last few years, and expects to fight at Welterweight(170 pounds), but keeping his options open at Middleweight(185 pounds), so he’ll have a serious weight-cut to make from his Heavyweight days in the WWE.
But in all seriousness, this isn’t a publicity stunt, he’s been training jiu-jitsu with renowned coach Rener Gracie for a number of years, so he’s not taking this lightly. Looks like he’s got some moves.
