The Republican Presidential candidate appeared on The Tonight Show in what was a pretty conservative, non-ruffling-of the-feathers (though there was hair ruffling) exchange.
The two joked about Hillary Clinton being featured in Women's Health magazine after admitting to suffering from pneumonia.
At one point, Fallon told Trump, ‘You say shocking things’, to which Trump replied, ‘But I’m trying not to anymore.’
The segment ended with Fallon asking Trump if he could do a ‘silly thing’, and proceeded to ruffle Trump’s hair.
And yeah that’s pretty much all the happened.
Many people who watched the show took to Twitter to express their disappointment and frustration with the interview:
I don't fault Jimmy Fallon for not being a journalist. I do fault him for his willingness to serve as hell's court jester.

Jimmy Fallon blew it tonight. Late night comedians used be the court jesters of culture. Humanizing a xenophobe is not okay. #FallonTonight

Was Jimmy Fallon supposed to do a hard-hitting interview? Of course not. Was he supposed to shower a racist with love? No. Not that, either.

Awww Jimmy Fallon ruffled Trump's hair and then goofed around with him for ten minutes. What a funny, adorable response to fascism!

Jimmy Fallon's brand is "Everything is Awesome!" which is great until "everything" turns out to include the rise of xenophobic fascism
