If you were a kid growing up in the 80s, 90s or 00s, chances are you watched Thomas the Tank engine. If not, you’ll most definitely recognise its jolly theme tune in an instant.

We’ve seen over the years, thanks to people sharing observations on social media, there actually were some adult and darker elements to our favourite TV shows as kids. This latest discovery is very sullen indeed.

A Tweeter named Tristan Cooper shared a horrifying scene from one of the episodes of Thomas & Friends. The story involved a ‘stubborn’ Henry who refuses to work in case it ruins his lovely paintwork. He is punished by having his rails taken away and being locked up behind a brick wall. The narrator adds: “I think he deserved his punishment, don’t you?”
