If you were hopping the DART or a commuter train this morning, then you were probably hit with a bit of a delay.
What was the cause for the delay? Well someone was off nicking important signal cables from the lines, which meant that the trains couldn't run, and the company tweeted out early this morning that commuters could expect to face a backlog on services between Wicklow and Dublin:
Signal cable theft: no trains Bray to Dalkey, ltd service Dalkey to Dun Laoghaire. DubBus accepting tkts. Hope for full service approx 08.00

Their update later on confirmed that things were a little bit worse than originally thought too:
Update: cable damage more extensive than thought. Bray to Dalkey remains suspended until further notice. Dublin Bus accepting rail tickets

Their most recent update added that the services are still delayed, but they have resumed, with problems expected to ease in the next while. So if you see a lad (or lady) walking around town with a load of signal cable, you know who to blame.
