The last UFC event in Ireland was a pretty big success, and it seems that they have another one in their sights for some stage this year.

The final stop on the world tour for Conor McGregor and Jose Aldo to promote their upcoming title fight, Dublin has become an important place on the map for the UFC, and while there had been plenty of speculation that this fight would take place in front of a packed Croke Park, it proved not to be the case.

However, a date in Ireland at some stage this year is not totally off the cards either, as Dave Allen, UFC’s Senior Vice President and General Manager in Europe, the Middle East and Africa (EMEA), revealed today.

Speaking to The42.ie, he said "I'll make a promise to you that we will be back in Dublin at some stage this year… if I can get through the contractual issues that are involved in that. I'm dotting the i's and crossing the t's on a particular date at the moment, and once that happens, it'll be all systems go."

He refused to be pushed on when that date might be, but Irish UFC fans can rest assured that they're a big part of the plans for the future. Paul Dollery, who conducted the interview with Allen, reckons an October date is the most likely - for both The UFC and 3Arena.
