Does anyone else read The Superficial? I do, on a daily basis. I find his oft warped analogies enviable, along with his ability to encapsulate an entire news piece in one barbed sentence. But then he goes and skitters all over his redeemable features by posting the following about Christina Hendricks.

"While you guys spent all day yesterday arguing how/if she’s obese, Christina Hendricks was busy telling Harper’s Bazaar how every single person regardless of gender or sexual orientation wants to take home a hulking slab of ginger:

On everyone wanting a ticket to Motorboat Euphoria:
'Women hit on me,' she chuckles. 'My husband thinks it's so odd that so many women hit on me.' Gay men too. 'They say to me, 'Well, I'm not straight, but if I was...' I think it's so flattering.'

On how she never worried about her figure until the media noticed:
'When the attention started to become about my figure, I was surprised, because it wasn't something I was focused on. And then it became very positive, and people were saying very nice things.'

On enabling women to pretend they're curvy and not all prone to heart disease:
A fan approached her and said, 'Excuse me, I just want to tell you that I watch your show, and you make me feel better about myself. I am a curvy woman and you've made me feel sexy and beautiful.' I got teary eyed.'

I honestly don't know how I feel about all this, so let's just cut straight to the deepest, rawest heart of the matter: Giant breasts. On that note, if you want people to think you're just a beautiful, curvaceous woman, and not another sad byproduct of American excess, perhaps you shouldn't participate in photo shoots where you're devouring everything in sight (he then linked to this). Just a thought."

Right, I'll overlook the "ginger" comment 'cause I've done that to death... really, it comes as no surprise that "gingerism" is seeping over stateside - the legion of narrow minded bigots need to channel their ignorance towards some target and, let's face it, redheads are the last bastion of acceptable racism *breathes*...

But back to even more ridiculous matter at hand - the "how/if she's obese" comment. I know the man's making a living from passing comment on women's breasts, but a wanton inability to physically look past a set of glands is a little piteous. Yes, her breasts are humongous. That is all. It's just an illusion (AA Gill went so far as to suggest the boobs aren't that big, her head is just really small). If Mr. Superficial actually watched Mad Men instead blinding headbutting his laptop, burping sh*te about perfectly healthy souls being "obese" he'd know 'Joan' is a goddess.

It's a cheerless day when you realise someone you spend a fair amount of time reading isn't just pretending to be a misogynistic 'fatist' tosspot. I know he posts under the term Superficial but I just thought that was a moniker employed 'cause he didn't have the balls to write under his own name. I didn't actually believe he was a deluded f*ckwit who would go out of his way to give the only positive physical role model the media have condoned in eons a complex - and therefore, by extension, any woman or indeed man (given the increasing amount of them succumbing to Anorexia thanks to our flippant global media) over a size 10.

In fact the only funny thing about his segment, is that he's believes he's an authority on moral highgrounds, what with the "if you want people to think you're just a beautiful, curvaceous woman, and not another sad byproduct of American excess, perhaps you shouldn't participate in photo shoots where you're devouring everything in sight. Just a thought," comment.

Yeeeah, when you have a loyal readership in the millions, maybe choose your words with a bit more caution. Or perhaps you get off on the idea of possibly perpetuating countless eating disorders from the comfort of your bedroom.

Just a thought.
