We love a good bandwagon to jump on, and the Japanese victory over South Africa at the week has provided us with our latest fad.
But sitting at home at watching quietly isn't our style. No, we need to immerse ourselves in the phenomenon, and we have done, by buying every single jersey Lifestyle Sports had to offer.
Before the game at the weekend the company had only sold one Japanese jersey, but the historic win prompted a surge of interest by the following morning, and the entire stock of red and white hooped shirts sold out within 48 hours.
The kit, which retails at €80, is now the third highest selling jersey, only behind Ireland and the All Blacks
Commenting on the jersey sales Debbie Byrne of Life Style Sports said; “We feel Ireland has now chosen their second team in this incredible Japanese side.
It has been predominantly Irish people who have bought the jersey and with Japan facing Scotland on Wednesday afternoon, Irish people want this inspiring story to continue and will be turning Japanese to show their support.”
A recent poll sponsored by Life Style Sports of over 30,000 sports fans has shown Irish people’s favourite RWC jersey is Argentina (24%) followed by Fiji (22%) and then Samoa (17%) and Ireland (15%) in third and fourth places respectively, although we have a feeling if they an that poll again the outcome could be an awful lot different.
Up the cherry blossoms!
