You might have read or seen something a couple of weeks about a beautiful little baby hare - or a leveret, to be exact - who hopped her way to a Dublin Airport Police Officer during the height of the Beast From The East weather event in Ireland.
The small creature was named Emma and taken into the care of the officer who found her, and brought home and given all the love and attention it needed. Well, unfortunately, Emma passed away despite receiving the best possible care and expert advice according to a statement by Dublin Airport.
The original video, which went viral in a matter of hours, showed the small hare hop towards the camera as the snow became too much for the little thing to cope with. In their statement, Dublin Airport confirmed that they'd "to work closely with the Irish National Parks & Wildlife Service (regarding) our native Irish hare population on the airport campus."
Here's the original video.
A special rescue this morning by one of our Airport Police. This little fella was taken to safety & given food and heat. We’re happy to report he’s safe and well. #BeastFromTheEast #Snow #BabyRabbit pic.twitter.com/uyP78y5BOH
