It's not the first time the actor has landed himself in hot water
'Brooklyn Nine-Nine' star and 'America's Got Talent' host Terry Crews is being criticised for recent comments he made about the Black Lives Matter movement.
Terry Crews tweeted yesterday: "If you are a child of God, you are my brother and sister. I have family of every race, creed and ideology.
"We must ensure #blacklivesmatter doesn’t morph into #blacklivesbetter"

Many Twitter users immediately clapped back at the actor for his comments.
One said the statement was "the very definition of a strawman argument."
Another noted: "No one wants to be better. We want to be treated fairly and equal." An additional tweeter added: "Demanding Black equality is not Black supremacy."
Terry. what in the actual hell? this is the very definition of a strawman argument. why would you suggest a movement created to advocate for the prosecution of cops/citizens responsible for racially motivated killings could some how morph into “we’re better” pic.twitter.com/VmPbHiryAe

In 1883, the Supreme Court claimed that a Civil Rights Act would make Black people "the special favorite of the laws."
In 2020, Terry Crews warned that #BlackLivesMatter will morph into #blacklivesbetter.

We’re so far from that bridge, Terry. #BlackLivesMatter is, in part, a rallying cry and a protest slogan to galvanize people into doing the justice work needed to derail the deaths, dehumanization and destruction of Black lives that racism causes.

Actually, what's wrong with a #BlackLivesBetter hashtag? Why not better Black safety, health, finance, education etc? Why not prioritize our healing- after 400 years of building this country through blood, sweat, and tears?

Crews also landed himself in hot water earlier this month over comments about "Black supremacy" on Twitter.
He had written: "Defeating White supremacy without White people creates Black supremacy. Equality is the truth. Like it or not, we are all in this together."
Representatives for Crews have not made a comment at this time.
