It's a dark day in Irish history as a bastion of Irish food falls into the hands of the Germans.
Tayto, which has been a national symbol of pride for Ireland for over twenty years, is now under the control of German snack-food firm Intersnack. The man behind Tayto, Ray Coyle, sold off his final 25% stake in the company to the Germans.
It's not all bad news, however. Coyle's current venture, Tayto Park, is flourishing with over 750,000 visitors reported so far in 2015.
So, with news that Tayto is now no longer an Irish brand anymore, we thought we'd do a little rebranding to bring Tayto more in line with its German owners.
We're also proposing a total renaming of Tayto to EINZ TAYTO JAHWOLT because, let's be honest, Tayto is ours and we can't be handing it off like this.
It's a sad day, folks. 'Tis a sad, sad day.
