Taylor Swift has a lot of power. A day after Swift posted her first ever political stance, sees voting registrations in the US surge in numbers.
In today's day and age, you can't deny the power of a pop singer on Instagram. Yesterday, the 'Bad Blood' singer took to the social media platform to voice her opinion on the US political system, and in particular to bash her current Tennessee nominee Marsha Blackburn. The star then urged people who are eligible to vote, to "Please, please educate yourself on the candidates running in your state and vote based on who most closely represents your values. For a lot of us, we may never find a candidate or party with whom we agree 100% on every issue, but we have to vote anyway":
It now seems that Swift's political movement has worked, as Vote.org has reported to abc7 that over a staggering 50,000 have registered to vote within the past 24 hours. In the state of Tennessee alone, where Swift will be casting her vote, there has been a major spike in registration too, with "2,811 registrations from September increased to 3,582 in October so far, and 2,144 of those were in the last 36 hours".
Of course, Swift's political activism hasn't gone unnoticed by funnyman, Donald Trump. Trump was asked by a news reporter how he feels about Swift's new political movement, and he quipped back "Let's say that I like Taylor's music about 25 percent less now, okay?". Watch his reaction to the news below:
