We may have lost the run of ourselves naming these storms, especially if there's going to be one every damn week. As you may know already, last week's Storm Abigail was the first named storm of a new initiative between the Met office in the UK and Ireland where people voted for what names they would choose to call storms that hit the country.
The storms go in alphabetical order but at this rate we will have ran out of names within the year.
Met Eireann has issued two warnings with Storm Barney, due to peak this afternoon, with gusts up to 125 km/hr in some places, while a status orange warning is in place for Dublin, Wicklow, Galway, Clare, Kerry and Limerick until 9pm tonight.
There's a status yellow warning for Carlow, Kildare, Kilkenny, Laois, Wexford, Offaly, Westmeath, Meath, Cork, Tipperary and Waterford.
(The yellow means 'be aware', the orange means 'be prepared' and the red is 'take action'.)
A storm called Barney could hardly wreak that much havoc though right??
But then again, we should also probably stop picturing a big purple dinosaur...
Shout out to this guy too for the day that's in it.
