A mural backing a 'Yes' vote in the upcoming marriage equality referendum was defaced last night in Dublin.
The mural depicted two women kissing under a banner which simply said 'love', and was positioned next to the Bernard Shaw pub, on Dublin's South Richmond Street.
It seems that overnight someone came and painted over the face of one of the women in the mural with black paint, and also painted over the mouth of the other one so that the kiss could no longer be seen.

They also tried to cover over the date of the referendum, which the piece also displayed, although they seemed to have had less success there as it looks like they were either out of paint or in a hurry to get away without being spotted.

Here's hoping that the artist will be able to undo the damage to the mural.
