Jamie Lee Curtis has spoken out about her loveless upbringing in a family that "loved dogs more than people" and she has also revealed she was a "save-the-marriage baby" that failed. Curtis claims she was brought up to believe she was to blame for her father, Tony Curtis, splitting from her mother, Psycho actress Janet Leigh. Although the pair were known as Hollywood’s "golden couple" Curtis now claims cracks appeared because of her mother’s obsession with money and her father’s infidelity.

Curtis, 51, told More magazine: "Like any save-the-marriage baby, I failed. My mother persevered and survived. I'm not sure my sister Kelly and I did. The truth is, I have few memories of my childhood. I think Janet and Bob (that would be her stepfather) loved their pedigree dogs more than people". She added: "The most complicated relationship my mother had, both loving and often cruel, was with her own body. She always showed her dazzling smile, even though I came to know that her life was not particularly happy". Who would have known, eh?
