It's infinitely easier being acrid from behind a guise. It's doubtful whether Barry Humphries would ever say the following in an interview, but Edna Everage can: "I would advise her to disappear because I am bored of her. What else is there to say about her? I have had a 50-year career and I have never taken more than half a Valium. What actually has she ever done? What has she achieved? I think advice is wasted on a non-entity like Britney." Seeing as the two singers appear to be entwined in the gossip grapevine; Edna followed up this statement with one about Amy Winehouse: "I would give her advice because at least she is a genuine talent. I would welcome her into my home and take her under my wing. She's a big talent who has fallen into the wrong circles. I think she should have her tattoos removed and get rid of that spooky-looking husband." Has anyone else got a mental image of Mr. Humphries, alone in his bedroom, removing his mask of make-up, with one single tear trickling down his face? It's hard staying relevant in this day and age...
