For those of you who don't know - The South Bank Show is on ITV, late on a Sunday, and usually features respected people in the arts world being interviewed by Melvyn Bragg. Yip, it does sound quite drab but it would appear the judges were getting down with the kids given their chosen winners of the annual awards show. Arctic Monkeys won the Pop Music prize, This is England won Best Film (even though Control should have), JK Rowling was awarded the title of Outstanding Achievement for her Harry Potter series, while BBC2 drama Gavin and Stacey won Best Comedy… which says a fair bit about the state of TV at present. OK, Rob Brydon's character raised a few laughs but there were far too many PMIs (pointless musical interludes) which is emblematic of lazy scriptwriting. My two cents segment over. The awards show will be aired February 3rd on ITV and you'll be treated to Kelly Osbourne further showcasing her presenting talents. The singer/TV presenter/spawn of a famous person, who was there to give the Arctic Monkeys there award, said: "I opened my speech and found out they (that would be the Arctic Monkeys) wanted me to jog on the spot, hold up my right arm, touch my left ear and blow kisses. I'm always up for a dare so I did it." That's just super, Kelly, well done. No doubt the organisers were tickled pink to see the young people enjoying themselves.
