Who doesn't love a Snapchat filter, right?! Well, it obviously depends on the filter. For example, when you invite people to 'black up' to help celebrate, in essence, 'National Weed Day' (a big day stateside, with many rallies happening in places such as Colorado, Washington state, and Washington, DC, where possession of Marijuana is legal).
While there were those who appreciated the effort...
That Bob Marley snapchat filter is brilliant

... the overwhelming response via twitter was shock, horror and overall disdain... Here is but a small selection.
So... there's a Bob Marley @Snapchat filter. Blackface is now OK, apparently?
— Brenda Wong (@brendaisarebel) April 20, 2016
Snapchat has made a "Bob Marley" filter for 4/20? Lol don't reduce the brother's legacy to nothing more than a weed mascot for white hippies
— Jordan Rose (@ZER0DayVirus) April 20, 2016
Wow. There's definitely a "Bob Marley" snapchat filter. It attempts to make you a black man w dreads. Who said yes to that? 🤔🤔🤔
— rosie knight (@RosieMarx) April 20, 2016
snapchat reducing bob marley to just some guy who smoked weed is so dishearting
— meme enthusiast (@hansonIine) April 20, 2016
@Snapchat take the bob Marley filter down. It's blackface and it's offensive.
— willy (@_fdollaz) April 20, 2016
but of course Kylie Jenner used that terrible Bob Marley Snapchat filter pic.twitter.com/3Ieoz48ust

Why no Bob Marley filter on his birthday? The day he died? The day he performed two days after being shot? @Snapchat
— OXTAIL GAWD (@ThatDudeMCFLY) April 20, 2016
Shame on #Snapchat for this Bob Marley filter. He was known for actual important things. Not this stupid "holiday" and weed. @Snapchat
— Elani (@_ElaniR) April 20, 2016
Bob Marley @Snapchat filter is egregious and should be pulled. Not just because of blackface, but because it's petty to reduce him to 4/20.
— Jake Kivanç (@KivancJake) April 20, 2016
There's something more than a little racist about @Snapchat putting up a blackface Bob Marley filter for 4/20, right?
— Andy (@murderous_andy) April 20, 2016
Can @Snapchat explain to me why there's a Bob Marley filter on 4/20? You realize he did more than smoke weed, right? pic.twitter.com/xPCOU5uQko

Snapchat have since released this statement: "The lens we launched today was created in partnership with the Bob Marley Estate, and gives people a new way to share their appreciation for Bob Marley and his music. Millions of Snapchatters have enjoyed Bob Marley’s music, and we respect his life and achievements."
Especially on 4/20, it would seem.
