When discussing Stephanie Roche's brilliant goal that got her nominated for a Puskas award, Sky News got themselves in a spot of trouble.
Sky News were forced to apologise after they called Stephanie Roche's former team, Peamount United, "some bog-trotting side" on air yesterday, as they discussed the winner of the Ballon d'Or.
Tom Newton Dunn was the man responsible, and the political editor of The Sun was in studio to discuss the stories that were making the front pages of the papers. He stated that it was "a truly terrific goal from some...um...bog-trotting side in Ireland somewhere", and the reaction as suitably one of outrage from those viewing at home.
@SkyNews Did the Sun political editor really just say 'BOGTROTTING' to refer to an Irish footballer? Disgusting. You are in the dark ages.

While Newton Dunn is yet to apologise, Sky have stated that there was no offence meant by the comment, and as The Herald report, he was simply trying to praise "the brilliance of a goal scored by a player from a fairly small team".
