The X-Factor judge rarely ends up on the positive side of public opinion, but this latest gesture is sure to get him a bit of kudos.
Clearly a fan of dogs himself, as the picture above proves, X-Factor judge and famous wealthy man Simon Cowell decided that he would make a donation to the Manchester Dogs' Home that was badly affected by a blaze last week, killing sixty animals.
Donations have been pouring in form all quarters, and Cowell told Good Morning Britain on ITV that what had happened was absolutely horrendous, and the donation of £25,000 was the least he could do.
He added that he had been to many different rescue homes before, and that it was bad enough normally, without the added horror of the blaze. He went on to say that "the only good thing to come from it is that it highlights that there are thousands of dogs in the country living in these rescue homes" and that the awareness of that at the moment may help some of them to find a new home with a family soon.
