Simon Cowell and Lauren SIlverman are celebrating this morning after Silverman gave birth to their newborn son Eric on St. Valentine's Day.
Eric was born in New York City's Lenox Hill Hospital at 5.45pm local time and was named Eric after Cowell's own father.
Cowell took to Twitter to confirm the news yesterday, saying: "Very happy to say Eric was born at 17.45pm. Healthy and handsome." He added: "Lauren in great shape. Thanks for all of your kind messages".
Cowell flew to New York via private jet as soon as he heard Silverman had gone into labour and was by her side when she gave birth.
An insider told the Daily Mirror newspaper: 'You couldn't take the smile [off] Simon's face.'
The TV talent show guru had to leave the London auditions of 'Britain's Got Talent' to fly to New York in time for the birth, and he faced a battle to get to he hospital in time'. A source added: 'It was a race against time. Normally when a dad-to-be gets the call, they are just a few miles away - not the other side of the Atlantic.'
But can little Eric sing? That's the real question here...
