Post too many selfies? Do you hashtag your pics with '#abs'? Do you really believe that you're a '#baller' or are you just trying to act cool online?
Well now there's a new website that can crunch the numbers on your social media profile and tell you whether or not you're getting it right, and, importantly, if you're trying too hard.
The Social Effort Scale is a clever marketing ploy from Axe (who we know as Lynx this side of the water), and they've partnered with Barton F. Graf 9000, a New York-based ad firm, who put together the scale to have a look at your posts on social media and work out, using fancy science and numbers, whether or not you're self-centered. Here's a quick video that can explain things:
Your results are broken down into a few different categories - effortless, trying too hard and not trying hard enough, so it's pretty simple to understand. It also gives you an insight to the type of persona you've created online, and whether or not that makes you a jerk. The answer is that it probably does, very few people who use the internet are sound.
You can head on over to the site and have your behaviour analysed by an emotionless formula, but be prepared to be insulted and take umbrage at what exactly the algorithm considers "trying too hard" though. Don't say we didn't warn you...
