The actor is currently undergoing chemo
Screech from 'Saved by the Bell' has been diagnosed with stage four cancer.
Dustin Diamond, who played the role of Samuel 'Screech' Powers in 'Saved by the Bell' during the late '80s and early '90s is currently undergoing chemo for stage four cancer.
The 44-year-old is being treated at a Florida hospital. According to a representative of the actor, the cancer diagnosis is "serious" and tests are still being carried out.
They are reported to have said: "He's undergoing chemo so he will be there at least another week and then we will figure out when he gets to come home.
"By next week, we'll have a much better understanding of the severity of his condition and what treatments he will need so that he's comfortable."
The rep went on to explain that today Diamond is "fine", but the actor is also dealing with a bout of shingles. They continued: "He was fading in and out, feeling sleepy and tired. On top of all this he also has shingles, so he's been in a lot of pain."
It is believed that his medical problems began after he found "a huge lump on his throat".
Dustin Diamond served as Screech for all 86 episodes of the young adult series 'Saved by the Bell'. However, following his success on the series, Diamond never managed to break into Hollywood and had a number of controversial happenings, including jail time.
Late last year, the 'Saved by the Bell' reboot was announced for Peacock. Diamond's previous co-stars such as Mario Lopez and Elizabeth Berkley have returned to reprise their roles.
