Wayne Rooney is to become the face of Hovis Bread, most likely because it resembles a ball of dough. According to The Mirror, the footballer is to partake in a TV ad campaign this coming autumn. An ever-reliable source offered: "They want to revert to the more classic commercials for the traditionalists. With Wayne being a national icon, they can return to the iconic Hovis style while still appealing to the younger generation." A national icon with a penchant for hacking a loogie at people. The Sun today reports that the Manchester United player, who's set to earn £150k for starring the Hovis ads, has been questioned by police regarding an incident which involved him spitting at an "unnamed paparazzi". Said incident occurred on London's Oxford Street on Tuesday night after Wayne enjoyed a bit of nosh with Coleen. A source said: "Under the law, spitting at someone is regarded as an offence of common assault. Any such allegation will be pursued." A spokesman for Rooney said: "Wayne was interviewed by police in connection with an alleged minor offence. Wayne was happy to co-operate fully." What a role model.
