Sorry, you'll have to bear with us for a few minutes as we stand and applaud Robin Wright for being a badass.
According to EW, the 'House of Cards' star/exec producer is more like her character than we all thought and proved it yesterday by recounting a tale about how she demanded to be paid the same as Kevin Spacey on the Netflix show and won.
Speaking at a Rockefeller Foundation event Tuesday, Wright addressed the issue of equal pay, joining the likes of Patricia Arquette, Jennifer Lawrence, Meryl Streep and others who are speaking out about the gender pay inequality in Hollywood and beyond, and said that when it came to 'House of Cards', a show on which she has been in the same number of episodes as Spacey, has directed and is now an executive producer, “I was like, ‘I want to be paid the same as Kevin.’.
"There are very few films or TV shows where the male, the patriarch, and the matriarch are equal," she continued. "And they are in House of Cards."
"Claire Underwood’s character was more popular than [Frank’s] for a period of time. So I capitalized on it. I was like, ‘You better pay me or I’m going to go public’ And they did."
Take a lap of honour Robin, because we are standing and cheering for this.
