The 80-year-old became a father for the seventh time this year

Robert De Niro hit the headlines for reasons unrelated to his acting career earlier this year when it was revealed that he had become a father again at the age of 80.

De Niro and his partner Tiffany Chen welcomed a daughter, Gia, six months ago, making it the actor's seventh child in total.

The legendary actor admitted that Chen does most of the work with the new addition to their family.

"[Fatherhood] doesn’t get easier,” he said in a new interview with The Observer. "It is what it is. It’s OK. I mean, I don’t do the heavy lifting. I’m there, I support my girlfriend. But she does the work. And we have help, which is so important."

He added that he approaches fatherhood from a different perspective with each of his children from different relationships; Drena (52), Raphael (46), twins Julian and Aaron (27), Elliot (25) and Grace (11) as well as 6-month-old Gia.

“With a baby, it’s different to with my 11-year-old. My adult children. My grandchildren. It’s all different,” he said. "Well, I don’t talk to the adult children the way I talk to my baby. Or the way I speak to my 11-year-old - though she’s pretty smart."

De Niro isn't the only high-profile older actor to welcome a new baby this year; his 'Heat' co-star Al Pacino (83) also became a father again when he welcomed his son Roman with 29-year-old girlfriend Noor Alfallah in June. Pacino has three adult kids.
