The Aussie actress dramatically changed her body shape in recent years
It goes without saying that the most important thing is being happy in your own body, whatever size you are - but Rebel Wilson was applauded by many for losing quite a bit of weight in recent years.
The Australian actress came to prominence as 'Fat Amy' in 2012's 'Pitch Perfect' film and its subsequent sequels, but began her weight loss journey in 2020.
Now, she has revealed that there was a reason for her waiting so long to begin that journey: her contract on the film dictated that she (and her co-stars) were not allowed to alter their body shape in any dramatic way.
“I did wait until Pitch Perfect seemed like it was over,” she said on the new episode of the Call Your Daddy podcast. "I couldn’t lose a massive amount of weight because it was in the contracts for that movie. You can’t lose... I think it’s not more than 10 pounds, or gain more than 10 pounds. You have to kind of stay at the weight. It’s in your contract."
She added that she had been stereotyped because of her weight because of the role - although made it clear that she loved playing the character, nonetheless. "I had been thinking for a while like, ‘Oh, I want to get healthier'," she said. "And I was stereotyped in playing that fat, funny friend, which is so hard because I love those roles. I love doing the roles; I love those characters. But then I did want to do more things, but I felt like being the bigger girl, you’re just more pigeonholed."
Wilson also discussed the impetus for her weight loss, after she visited a fertility doctor led her to focus on her health. She and her partner Ramona Agruma welcomed their baby daughter Royce Lillian, born by surrogate, last November.
