His tell-all memoir is published next week
If you watched 'Harry & Meghan' on Netflix, you'll be aware that Prince Harry is not concerned in the least with burning bridges.
With his tell-all memoir 'Spare' set for publication in the coming weeks, the former (part-time?) royal is on the publicity trail and is clearly taking no prisoners, if a snippet from a new interview with Anderson Cooper is anything to go by.
The '60 Minutes' interview clip shows Harry elaborating on something that he touched upon in the Netflix documentary - that Buckingham Palace regularly 'fed' stories to the press in a bid to manipulate the media. His issue, it seems, was that when he asked for help to control the overwhelmingly negative narrative around Meghan, he was met with silence. "And there comes a time when silence is betrayal," he tells Cooper.
He said that his decision to speak publicly about his decision to pull back from his royal duties came about because "Every single time I've tried to do it privately there have been briefings and leakings and planting of stories against me and my wife."
Cooper also asked him whether he could ever imagine a time when he would return to the Royal Family as a full-time member, and he emphatically says "No."
The full interview is set for broadcast next Sunday, January 8th - while ITV will also broadcast an interview with him on Sunday at 9pm GMT.
Clips from the ITV interview include quotes like "I want a family, not an institution" and "They've shown absolutely no willingness to reconcile", while also claiming that he and Meghan have been pigeonholed as the 'villains' for the Royal Family's convenience.
He also says "I would like to get my father back. I would like to have my brother back."
