As anyone who's done an interview on camera will tell you, the whole thing is choreographed from start to finish.
There's handlers, make-up artists, PR people, all sorts of control mechanisms that go into ensuring that exactly what's intended to happen, happens. Therefore, there's something truly brilliant about this interview because you honestly get the sense that there's some PR type with a clipboard standing behind the camera, pulling their hair out at Blancett and Paulson.
Really, if 'Ocean's 8' has given us anything, it's this interview and the fact that these two need to do a screwball action comedy or something along the lines of 'Thelma & Louise' because you can't fake this kind of chemistry. Sure, they did 'Carol' together - and they even joke about how Cate Blanchett didn't win an Oscar for it, and Paulson only has an Emmy - but there needs to be something where this kind of craziness is caught on camera for an extended period of time.
Also, fair play to the interviewer doing her best to try and coral them because Cate Blanchett and Sarah Paulson are just operating on a different wavelength altogether. You can see her panic-laugh throughout, but whatever, it's all TV gold by the end of it.
