Parts of America are slowly turning from winter wonderland to frozen hellscapes if these photos are anything to go by.

The cold snap across the northeast of the United States is creating some pretty rare scenes, with everything from man-made snow tunnels, snow mountains and cats bursting in through walls of snow being seen around the world. 

But now that snow is turning to ice as the cold shows no signs of abetting, and a burst water main meant that owners of cars in Baltimore found themselves without transport as their vehicles were frozen solid to the ground.

 

Meanwhile, another car owner found their jeep frozen to a railing after parking and pulled away to leave an imprint of the jeep's nose frozen in the air.
