The singer has been accused of hypocrisy after an old tweet was unearthed
When you're remaking a classic Disney film that is beloved of an entire generation, you can expect to have a few dissenting voices in the mix.
However, pop star and actress Paloma Faith slammed the new live action version of the film, starring Halle Bailey as Ariel and Melissa McCarthy as Ursula, for an entirely different reason.
Faith took to Instagram to slam the film for its messaging, which she essentially claimed was anti-feminist.
In a now-deleted Instagram story, she complimented Bailey, saying "I think Halle gives a good performance and it’s great casting."
However, she continued by saying: "As a mother of girls I don’t want my kids to think it’s ok to give up your entire voice and your powers to love a man. Wtf is this sh*t. Not what I want to be teaching next gen women at all."

Faith deleted the story, but many have called her hypocritical, considering she tweeted in 2009: "when i grow up i want to be the little mermaid", meaning that she was fully aware of the film's storyline.
She has not commented on the furore since.
